Honors Faculty of Distinction

Honors Faculty of Distinction is a designation that recognizes faculty involvement, service, and excellence in core contributions to the University Honors Program.

Faculty (all ranks) and instructors are eligible for this recognition. Each year, the new class of Honors Faculty of Distinction will be recognized during the Spring Honors Day ceremony. Applications are accepted throughout the year. The deadline to be included in a specific class is March 1 of each year. Applications received after that deadline will be considered for the following year's class.

For selection, faculty and instructors must demonstrate contributions to the program in two out of the three following areas:

  • Teaching in the Honors Program (seminars, mini-sections or in-course contracts) over the last two years
  • Supervision of honors students conducting research (e.g., Honors capstones, McKearn projects, Research Rookies in the Honors Program)
  • Service to the Honors Program (e.g., work to integrate the Honors Program in academic departments/centers/colleges, membership on University Honors Committee, co-curricular contributions)

In addition, applicants must also show evidence of excellence in teaching or research mentorship (e.g., honors teaching evaluations, teaching or mentorship awards/nominations, student testimonials, co-presenting or co-publishing with honors students).
