Honors Spring Break Trips

Just for honors students, these one-week trips are designed to heighten your awareness of critical social issues, enhance your personal growth and prepare you for social action. You'll participate in a meaningful service opportunity and create lasting friendships.

2024 Trip: Land Between the Lakes

Professional Development Boot Camp

Offered in partnership with Career Services, this boot camp consists of a series of activities you complete over the course of a semester, such as attending a career fair or practicing interview skills. By

participating, you'll build a solid foundation for career success.

Job Shadow Program

By pairing NIU alumni with honors students, this program gives students the opportunity to see what a day in the life of the alum's career is like, in person or virtually. You must apply to participate. Please note that a match might not be available for every applicant.

Forage Job Simulations

Forage is a free online library of job simulations designed by employers. The self-paced modules are designed to replicate the tasks you would have as an intern or new employee at a range of companies. Be sure to upload your completion certificate to Suitable to get credit.

Connect 10

Connect 10 is an opportunity to earn one Honors Engaged credit by attending 10 approved events/programs across campus relating primarily to diversity and involvement on campus. To see what events are approved as Connect 10 credit, please visit Suitable and look for the Connect 10 tag on events.
